If you are someone who takes pleasure in helping and serving people, the job of a nursing assistant can be the best for you. To become a certified nursing assistant, you need to have CNA training from a renowned institute in NYC.

Generally, CNA works in various healthcare facilities and helps patients with their healthcare needs. When you work as a CNA, a licensed nurse will be there to guide you. Although working hours are long and tiring, the satisfaction that gets from the job overpowers it.

In this blog, we are going to talk about the responsibilities of a nursing assistant

  • Assist patients with their basic healthcare needs
CNAs will help patients with their routine activities that they are unable to do

This generally includes the following roles:
  • Help with cleaning and bathing of patients.
  • Help the patient for using the toilet and getting dressed.
  • They are involved in reposition the patients between the wheelchair and bed.
  • Help patients in eating and taking a walk or other normal activities.
  • Evaluate Important Symptoms and Signs
You will monitor essential signs every day. For example, you will measure blood pressure pulse, weight, temperature or other important signs of your patients daily and report this accurately to the doctor or senior nurse.
  • Keep a close eye on the patients’ vital signs
CNA talks with patients and monitors their concerns. After listening to their health concerns, you need to record these on a paper or in an electronic system. Once you have recorded this information, you will need to report this to the senior nurses or doctors.

Apart from these activities, you will assist the supervisor with some procedures like transferring medical equipment needed during patient care. You will also be responsible for taking a patient’s blood sample.
